A downloadable tool

We are Nic and Amelie, two young programmers from Germany, and we are currently working on a Unity plug-in for co-location multiplayer games in virtual reality.

Co-location multiplayer are VR games that let two or more players act in the same room together where they can also see each other in the virtual world. To make this work it is important that the position of the virtual avatars matches the players‘ real position, so they don‘t accidentally collide.

Those games are typically exclusive to expensive AR rooms or certain AR headsets not many people own, but with our plug-in we would like to give developers the possibility to create their own for the Oculus Quest / Quest 2 without much effort. There are barely any games that use this mechanic and we would like to change this. Co-location multiplayer games in VR have great potential since they enable new mechanics for VR games and spice up multiplayer games to have lots of fun creating new experiences not just on your own, but with friends and family immersing into the same virtual world.

Our goal is to publish a fully usable asset in summer this year and we are looking forward to provide updates along the way. If you have any questions or suggestions feel free to post them here.

Hi. Your project looks great! I hope you're still planning to release it to the public at some point. I'd love to be able to use it for developing immersive learning experiences for students and teachers.

Hi there, i'm trying to find a way to contact you guys, but i can't find any e-mail associated to you: i'm doing a master thesis on co-location and wanted to really have the chance to ask a couple of quick questions. Please answer back, you would really save my day! Thanks

P.S. Beautiful work!

Hello Nic and Amelie. I was hoping to have a private conversation regarding your development. I have been tasked with evaluating the benefits of purchasing a VR room (with absolute localization via sensor-sensor communication protocols to make co-location more accurate and efficient). I would love your advice regarding whether this purchase is worth it. It seems like your co-location alg is pretty accurate. Wondering whether it'd be best to just develop this alg ourselves. If you can email me at haponeh[at]mcmaster.ca I would greatly appreciate a chat if you're willing!

Is this still in development? How do you co-locate devices in the same space?

Hi! It is great to see you are working on this! Would LOVE to test it out with a networked hand tracking unity project I am building. Are you guys going to post an update? Thank you in advance!!

Hi I could really use this plugin or even a Beta of it for a class I am teaching with my senior students in Unity for VR on Quest 2. Do you think a version of it will be available soon?

Hello!!

How amazing, when are you guys going to post updates?

Is it possible to make a Plugin version for Unreal?

We are working with an arena and adjusting co-location and we really need help with that.

I am waiting for more details.

hi any update on your project? I would love to test this out to see how to get co-location game working. Or any reference on how to track the other players?

Hello and thank you for your interest. We know we've been quite inactive here, but we are still working on the project and are going to make an update post soon. We're still planning to make this plugin available some time this summer.

I have a "working game" and am in need of this type of plugin. Would you all like something that "looks a little better" to help build out and test the plugin? (https://www.instagram.com/iconvr/)    Also, please support photon and Unity first!!! PUN is going away.

We would be happy to see you using our plugin in the future. Unfortunately we aren't quite ready to give you or anyone for that matter somewhat they can use. Stay tuned and we hope you'll be one of the first to show some possibilities of our plugin ;)

Sounds great! Looking forward to it!
